Selecting a Size

We provide garment sizes in individual product listing as an age range (e.g. 6-9 months) for quick reference. However, babies are little individuals and can vary dramatically in size from the "standard" set for their age groups. For best results, measure the baby for whom you are purchasing an item and compare those measurements to the ones provided in the below table. In some cases, a product may be listed with a larger age range than noted in the chart (e.g. 6-12 months) if a given size measurement is the same for two age ranges.

Garment are sized with positive or negative ease relative to the actual baby measurements provided in the table. Ease is allowed as follows:

Onesies are sized with 1-2 inches of positive ease in circumference, meaning the garments have a chest measurement about 1-2 inches greater than the chest measurement given in the below table for a baby of that age group. For example, a onsie marked as a 3-6 month size would have a chest measurement of about 19-20 inches for a baby with a chest measurement of about 18 inches.
Sweaters are sized with 2-3 inches of positive ease, meaning the garments have a chest measurement about 2-3 inches greater than the chest measurement given in the below table for a baby of that age group. For example, a sweater marked as a 6-9 month size would have a chest measurement of about 21-22 inches for a baby with a chest measurement of about 19 inches.
Hats are sized with 2 inches of negative ease for a snug fit, meaning the garments have a head circumference measurement about 2 inches less than the head circumference measurement given in the below table for a baby of that age group. For example, a hat marked as a 1-3 month size would have a head circumference measurement of about 14 inches for a baby with a head circumference measurement of about 16 inches. Hats are quite stretchy.
Soakers are sized with about 2 inches of negative ease in the hip measurement with a ribbed (very stretchy) waist sized a bit smaller for a snug fit. For example, a soaker marked as a 12-18 month size would have a hip measurement of about 20 inches and a waist measurement of about 19-20 inches for a baby with a 22 inch hip measurement, including diaper. Soakers are sized to fit over bulky cloth diapers. If you intend the soaker to fit over a slim disposable diaper, you may wish to select one size down.
